Music lessons!

Last lesson, I've been working with Jess https://soundcloud.com/#jess-mclean-2 and Keira https://soundcloud.com/#kiera-smith7

((follow them on SoundCloud!))

Together we've been working on doing an instrumental version of Radioactive- by Imagine Dragons

Jess is on the Piano, Keira is on the Drums, and I am Singing.

We're nearly done, and have been doing quite well-

We just need to get the drum beat to go with the piano rhythm, all we need is proper timing.

MONDAY, 7 OCTOBER 2013

In a years time, I hope that I accomplish singing louder, and projecting my voice over instruments!

I also hope that I will be able to play the acoustic guitar sucessfully and be able to sing with it at the same time, My music teacher Susan on my thursday music lesson will be teaching me how to play it!

November, 11th 2013

Last lesson I've recorded my singing for the Radioactive song, I'll have to complete the whole song another day. The timing with the Piano and drums has finally been a success. My confidence has risen so I've been able to sing a bit louder; I need to, to be able for my voice to be heard over the drums.

December 4th 2013

We've done our cover of Imagine Dragons- and now we're doing two more covers, the first one is Broken Strings by James Morrison; we are not sure what the second one is yet.

Wednesday 11th, 2013
We started going the song Broken Strings, by James Morrizon. We are using the same instruments as we did before; Jess-Paino, Kiera-Drums, and Me-Singing.
We've been having trouble finding the right picth on the piano with the song we're doing, the piano notes are hard to find, yet easy to play. I was thinking of just doing our own versions, so it doesn't have to exactly sound the same; so I'll have to improvise the singing part, for me it isn't that hard to do.

Wednesday 15th January

We changed our minds, as we decided to the song 'Happy' by Pharrel Williams instead; we're still using the same instruments as before.

Recording learning aim A

A condenser microphone can pick up high frequency. They're used by musicians because they can pick up sounds easily, which is why studio walls are normally covered in sponge or cardboard because it stops sounds reflecting or echoing sounds off the walls. Also  people must be outside the studio while recording. A pop shield (which covers  the microphone ) is used to stop picking up unwanted noises like 'pop' and 'tssch' sounds.

A drum condenser is EXTREMELY fragile. They're used to pick up sounds the drummers make when held up towards their drums. They only pick up the sounds of the drums with out the unwanted high frequency noises. They usually cost £117.00 for a professional one, because they work amazingly well, yet delicate.

In a studio, you need sound proof glass, so you can't hear people working on the Audio desks, Or anyone else. All you need to hear is the musician. Also, they use sound proofing on the walls, so sound vibrations  from the musicians don't bounce of the walls and cause echoes.

They also use black boards in the corner of the walls, Because corners can cause more echo noises, so they're used to reflect no sound. They use the colour Black or Dark blue, because dark colours absorbs not only heat, but sound also.

A audio mixer/ Audiodesk is used to control the stereo fields and volume. They also use it to edit songs the musicians did; Such as make the volume louder, use auto tunes or overlay other music/sounds on top of it.

A snake lead is helpful for music and instruments, because they're long enough to cross a whole room, and have lots of different connections for different sockets; it makes it much easier to carry and sort out.
